Roundup: Le Grand, Hilmar, Dos Palos, Livingston all win in final week of spring season
Le Grand senior Gemini Lopez turned in a big-time performance to help the Le Grand High football team defeat El Capitan 26-19 on Friday night.
Lopez ran for 210 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries to help the Bulldogs finish the spring season with a 3-2 record.
Lopez scored on a runs of 3 and 10 yards.
El Capitan (1-4) was explosive early as Malachy Harts returned a kickoff 90 yards for a score and hauled in a 30-yard touchdown pass from Gauchos quarterback Carter Haugen.
Haugen threw two touchdowns for El Capitan.
Le Grand’s Carlos Martinez caught two touchdowns in the first quarter of 13 and 18 yards. The first touchdown pass came from Aaron Martinez. The Bulldogs lost Aaron Martinez to an injury in the first quarter and sophomore Julian Bucio came in and connected with Carlos Martinez for the second touchdown.
Hilmar 36, Golden Valley 0 in Merced: Cole Bailey, Cannon Irelan and Derek Taylor all scored first-half touchdowns as the Yellowjackets (4-1 overall, 3-1 Central California Conference) built a 30-0 lead at intermission.
Bailey finished with two touchdowns.
Golden Valley finished with an 0-5 record. Hilmar finished with a 4-1 record, including a 3-1 record in the CCC.
Livingston 35, Gustine 13 in Livingston: Wolves quarterback Rocklin Baptista threw two touchdowns and ran another score in to lead Livingston to a win.
Danny Cruz added a 13-yard touchdown run for the Wolves (3-2).
Central Catholic 22, Buhach Colony 18 in Modesto: The Raiders scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to defeat the Thunder (2-3). Central Catholic receiver Phoenix Jackson hauled in four catches for 86 yards, including the game-winning touchdown with just over 2 minutes left in the game.
Raiders running back Julian Lopez had 206 yards on 16 carries.
Anthony Berry and Jaxson Percoats scored touchdowns for Buhach Colony (2-3).
Los Banos 31, Ceres 24 in Los Banos: Tigers running back Adrian Ramirez rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown and teammate Joe Archutowski recorded 12 tackles, including four sacks as the Tigers won to close out their spring.
Los Banos quarterback Wyatt McBride threw two touchdowns and Damari Tate caught two touchdowns, including a trick play that resulted in a pass from receiver Chase Wilson.
Los Banos’ Masten Milojevich added 15 solo tackles and Logan Borchard blocked two extra point attempts.
The Tigers finished the season 2-3.
Central Valley 28, Pacheco 6 in Ceres: Senior Isaiah Hidalgo had three rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown as the Hawks ended the season at 5-0.
Big Valley Christian 35, Delhi 12 in Modesto: Senior Zachary Aloisio had two touchdowns (one rushing, one receiving) in the win for the Lions (2-2).
