Roundup: Atwater rallies late to defeat Buhach Colony in Bloss Bowl XVI

Colton Dukes hauled in a touchdown pass from Bo Valladao to give the Atwater High football team the lead late and the Falcons defense made the final stop as Atwater won Bloss Bowl XVI 20-14 over Buhach Colony on Friday at Merced College’s Stadium ‘76.

The Falcons finish the season with a 3-7 record overall and 3-3 in the Central California Conference.

Atwater erased a 14-6 deficit in the final 8 minutes to pull out the win.

The Falcons tied the game at 14-14 after Collin Williams hauled in a touchdown catch with 7:55 remaining. Atwater converted the two-point conversion to tie the game.

Buhach Colony’s scores came on a 101-yard interception return for a touchdown by Kailin Frade and a touchdown run by Tyler Havel.

The Thunder finish the season with a 2-7 record overall and 2-4 in the CCC.

Buhach Colony still leads the all-time series 11-5.

Central Valley 48, El Capitan 12 — Omar Mendoza scored on two first-quarter rushing touchdowns as the Hawks routed the Gauchos in the final game of the regular season for both teams.

The Gauchos’ first score came on a defensive touchdown that cut the Central Valley lead to 27-6 in the second quarter.

El Capitan closes the season with an 0-10 record and 0-6 in the CCC.

Los Banos 35, Pacheco 27 — The Tigers closed the regular season with their fifth consecutive win as they held off the Panthers in the Crosstown Clash.

Los Banos quarterback David Herrera rushed for two touchdowns and connected with Joe Archutowski for an 8-yard touchdown pass in the second half.

Pacheco’s Jedidiah Delatorre scored all four Panthers touchdowns.

The big play for Los Banos came when Archutowski blocked a field goal and Jack Love scooped it up and returned it 73 yards for a score in the first half that gave the Tigers a 21-0 lead in the second quarter.

Deven Silveira led the Tigers defense with 11 tackles and one sack.

Le Grand 24, Mariposa 20 — Isaac Davison rushed for three touchdowns as the Bulldogs picked up a win in the Green and Gold Bowl at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds.

Wyatt Green threw three touchdown passes for Mariposa (5-5 overall, 4-3 Southern League) as the Grizzlies took a 20-17 lead in the fourth quarter.

Davison scored the go-ahead touchdown on an 11-yard run for the Bulldogs (5-5, 4-3 SL).

Escalon 33, Livingston 26 — The Wolves battled the top team in the Trans-Valley League to a one-score loss on the road.

Carlos Baez and Omar Baez both scored touchdowns for the Wolves (6-4 overall, 3-3 TVL).

Dos Palos 49, Avenal 6 — Abraham Landino scored four touchdowns as the Broncos finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record.
