El Capitan boys defeat Central Valley to clinch a share of the CCC championship

The El Capitan High boys basketball team defeated Central Valley 64-40 on Wednesday night in their regular season finale at the Stable Center to clinch a share of the Central California Conference championship.

Senior Greg Mack led the way for the Gauchos (18-9 overall, 9-3 CCC) with 15 points. Mack scored 10 points in the first half to help El Capitan take 33-13 lead at intermission.

The Gauchos had three other players finish in double-figure scoring in Adam Barase (12), Brody Collins (10) and Will Bain (10).

It’s El Capitan’s third championship in the past six years.

Merced (8-3 CCC) and Atwater (8-3 CCC) can still earn a share of the championship. Merced defeated Buhach Colony 65-40 on Wednesday night.

The Bears will close the regular season at Golden Valley on Friday night. Atwater will travel to Buhach Colony on Friday night.
