Sun-Star’s Best: Atwater’s Amelie Valdez wins Prep of the Week voting
Atwater High softball pitcher Amelie Valdez won this week’s Merced Sun-Star Prep of the Week fan vote.
Valdez won this week’s poll with over 51% of the total vote with 41,213 votes. Valdez helped the Falcons defeat Buhach Colony 6-0 by throwing a perfect game with with 16 strikeouts.
It’s the second time Valdez has won the Player of the Week poll this spring.
There were 81,263 total votes.
Merced softball standout Melody Gomez finished second with 31, 002 votes.
