Golden Valley boys win third Sac-Joaquin Section track championship in school history
The Golden Valley High boys track & field team won their third Sac-Joaquin Section championship in school history by winning the team competition at the Division III finals on Thursday at Weston Ranch High School.
The Cougars got contributions from all over to rack up 110 points. Vacaville finished second with 90 points.
Golden Valley finished first and second in the 110-meter hurdles with Luis Mincey taking the victory with a time of 15.50 seconds. Eleazar Garza finished second with a mark of 15.77 seconds. Mincey and Garza finished seventh and eighth, respectively in the 300 hurdle finals.
Isaiah Taylor placed second in the discus with a mark of 138 feet, 4 inches. Delbert Davis finish second in the triple jump (43-2) and fourth in the long jump (21-2).
Jamarcus Phillips also finished third in the discus (138-4) and fourth in the shot put (47-7.5).

Atwater’s Leonardo Cebrero won the Division III championship in the 300 hurdles, crossing the finish line in 41.26 seconds. He also finished second in the 400 with a time of 51.31 seconds.
Golden Valley senior Jazmine Severo won the championship in the high jump, clearing 5-4. Severo also finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 33-2.25.
Merced sophomore Sydney Perez finished second to Severo in the high jump with a mark of 5-0.
Falcons teammate Azim Muldrow finished second in the high jump, clearing 5-9. Muldrow also finished sixth in the 400 (52.26).
Merced’s Cristian Castro finished third in the 100 (11.07) and 200 (22.27).
Merced’s Isabel Perez-Zoghbi finished second in the 300 hurldes (45.41) and third in the 3200 (11:24.84). Buhach Colony’s Jacqueline Sanchez placed fifth in the 3200 with a time of 11:39.8.
El Capitan senior Anaya Shelton placed fourth in the 400 (58.83) and seventh in the 200 (26.48).
