Golden Valley improves to 6-0 with lopsided win. LB, Pacheco tied for first in WAC.

Golden Valley High senior quarterback Eleazar Garza threw four first-half touchdowns as the Cougars cruised to a 56-22 win over Central Valley in Ceres on Friday night to improve to 6-0 on the season overall and 2-0 in the Central California Conference.

Junior receiver Jonah White was the recipient of three of Garza’s first-half touchdown passes, including scoring strikes of 60 and 28 yards as the Cougars jumped out to a 28-0 lead at the half.

Garza added a touchdown run in the third quarter.

The Cougars defense tacked on in the scoring column as Josiah Gonzalez Martinez picked up a fumble and returned it 45 yards for a score to give GV a 35-8 lead late in the third quarter.

Golden Valley running back Jahkylle Smith added a late touchdown run.

Golden Valley will host Atwater next week at Veterans Stadium.

Patterson 63, Atwater 29 — The Tigers (6-1, 3-0 CCC) put this game away early, jumping out to a 35-0 lead early in the second quarter.

Atwater quarterback Tyler Parr connected with Colton Dukes for three touchdowns.

Merced 63, El Capitan 6 (Thursday) — Enoch Evans scored four touchdowns for the Bears, who improved to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the CCC.

Evans caught two touchdowns, ran for another score and returned an interception for a touchdown.

Merced returned three interceptions for scores in the game with Karlo Cervantes and Jalonn Booth both turning in pick-sixes.

Bears running back Chase Smith rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on just five carries.

The Bears are now 7-0 all-time against El Capitan, outscoring the Gauchos 404 to 57 in those seven games.

Los Banos 29, Mountain House 21 — Tigers quarterback David Herrera rushed for two touchdowns in the second half as Los Banos erased a 14-13 halftime deficit.

Herrera finished with 20 carries for 141 yards and the two scores. Tigers running back Mark Carreiro added 22 carries for 162 yards and a touchdown.

Los Banos junior Cade Torres led the defense with two sacks to go along with his nine tackles. Jeff Lindeman and Adan Salas both recorded 10 tackles and a sack.

The Tigers improved to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the Western Athletic Conference. Los Banos will host Johansen next week.

Pacheco 28, Davis 0 — Abel Bravo scored three touchdowns, including runs of 61 and 29 yards as the Panthers celebrated a homecoming win.

Daniel Scott added a 41-yard touchdown run for the Panthers, who improve to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the WAC.

Pacheco will travel to Ceres next week.

Le Grand 42, Denair 7 — Bulldogs quarterback Julian Bucio threw for 210 yards and four touchdowns as the Bulldogs routed the Coyotes.

Bucio connected with four different receivers on his scoring throws.

Le Grand running back Alexis Granados added touchdown runs of 12 and 8 yards.

Stone Ridge Christian 38, Ygnacio Valley 6 — Freshman Daijon O’neil returned an interception for a touchdown for one of his two scores as the Knights cruised to a win.

Hector Esquivez and Aiden Skeen added touchdown runs for Stone Ridge Christian, which improved to 5-2 this season.

Dos Palos 28, Avenal 14 — Broncos quarterback Peyton Van Worth scored on a 99-yard touchdown run and connected on two touchdown passes to Sixto Ibarra as Dos Palos won its second consecutive game.

Ibarra hauled in touchdown passes of 28 and 57 yards from Van Worth to help the Broncos open up a 28-7 lead in the second quarter.

Van Worth finished with 118 yards rushing on eight carries.

Chowchilla 28, Riverdale 24 — Andre Pulliam and Maleek Cobian both scored two touchdowns to lead the Tribe improve to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the Northwest Sequoia League.
