Stone Ridge Christian softball advances to section championship, Dos Palos to semifinals
Cali Cole pitched a two-hit shutout and collected three hits to lead the Stone Ridge Christian High School softball team to a 10-0 win over Mariposa in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division VII semifinals on Thursday afternoon.
The top-seeded Knights (15-2) will play Big Valley Christian (13-7) in Saturday’s section championship at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento at 11 a.m. in a rematch of last year’s title game. The Lions defeated SRC 5-3 in that final.
Stone Ridge Christian is 2-0 against Big Valley Christian with a 4-0 victory and a 6-4 win.
Cole dominated in the circle against the No. 4 Grizzlies, striking out 11 hitters.
Breann Louters and Mackenzie Silva each had two hits for the Knights and teammates Amy Villa and Alyssa Villa both had two RBIs.
Riverbank 5, Le Grand 2 — The No. 2 seeded Bruins scored four runs in the fifth inning to break open a 1-1 tie to advance to Saturday’s Sac-Joaquin Section Division VI championship game against No. 5 Summerville.
Denise Vargas led Riverbank with three hits.
Nadia Avila and Maisen Pridell each had two hits for the No. 3 Bulldogs (17-8). Avila pitched into the sixth inning, striking out eight and giving up five runs. Only two of the runs were earned.
Dos Palos 8, Bishop Union 2 — Breann Raney collected two hits and three RBIs to lead the the No. 12 Broncos past No. 4 Bishop Union.
Dos Palos (12-8) will face No. 1 Woodlake (23-3) in the Central Section Division V semifinals on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Kiley Lish added two hits and two runs for Dos Palos. Raney went the distance in the circle, surrendering two runs on four hits and striking out seven.
