Sun-Star’s Best Prep Football: Gustine’s Zander Leyve wins Prep of the Week poll
Gustine High School senior Zander Leyva made the switch from quarterback to running back recently and it paid off in a big game against Delhi last week.
Leyva finished with 106 all-purpose yards to go with two rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown in last week’s win over Delhi.
Leyva won the Merced Sun-Star Prep of the Week Football Poll.
Leyva earned the most votes for the Merced Sun-Star’s Prep Football Player of the Week. Wood earned 2,165 votes, which accounted for 43% of the total votes of 5,078.
Le Grand senior Reyes Diaz finished second with 1,264 votes.
