Sun-Star’s Best Prep Football: Merced’s Chase Smith wins Prep of the Week poll
Merced High School senior Chase Smith rushed for 200 yards and scored two touchdowns to help lead the Bears to a win over El Capitan. Smith also returned a punt for a touchdown in the game.
Smith won the Merced Sun-Star Prep of the Week Football Poll.
Smith earned the most votes for the Merced Sun-Star’s Prep Football Player of the Week. Smith earned 80% of the votes with a total of 374 votes.
Dos Palos High School quarterback Peyton Van Worth finished second.
