Sun-Star’s Best Prep Football: Mariposa’s Laten Butler wins Prep of the Week poll
Mariposa High junior Laten Butler turned in a spectacular performance in the opening week against Yosemite.
The diminutive 5-foot-3, 125-pound Butler caught six passes for 177 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Butler won the Merced Sun-Star Prep of the Week Football Poll.
Butler earned the most votes for the Merced Sun-Star’s Prep Football Player of the Week. Butler garnered 9,912 votes, which accounted for 46% of the 21,669 total votes.
Dos Palos quarterback Gavin Estrada finished second with 8,363 votes.
