El Capitan girls, Merced boys find out who they’ll face in playoff openers
The El Capitan High girls basketball team, the undefeated champion of the Central California Conference, was announced on Saturday as the fourth seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 2 playoffs.
The Gauchos (25-2 overall) will open the postseason against No. 13 Patterson (16-11) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. El Capitan has won 16 consecutive games.

The Merced High boys basketball team, which won the CCC outright title on the final night of the regular season, is seeded eighth in the Division 2 boys tournament. The Bears (20-8) open the postseason Wednesday at 7 p.m. at home against No. 9 Tracy (20-8).
The Stone Ridge Christian boys basketball team, which went undefeated at 12-0 to win the Southern League championship, was seeded third in Division 5. The Knights (22-6 overall) will face No. 14 Leroy Greene Academy of Sacramento in their postseason opener on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
