Merced, Atwater set for CCC softball showdown. First place is on the line
The Central California Conference softball championship could come down to Tuesday’s matchup between first-place Merced (6-0) and second-place Atwater (5-1).
Merced, which will host the game at 4 p.m., has outscored its CCC opponents 53-6.
Atwater will be looking for revenge on Tuesday; Merced defeated the Falcons 2-1 on April 14.
Merced pitcher Annalise Ramirez, a senior who has committed to play at Cal State Monterey Bay, has been dominant this season. Ramirez has an 0.87 ERA and has struck out 152 batters this season.
Senior catcher Madi Hiler leads Atwater with a .565 batting average and 16 RBIs.
The Sac-Joaquin Section softball playoffs begin May 11 with play-in games. The brackets will be announced on May 8. The section champion and runner-up advance to the NorCal Regional tournament.
