Livingston boys volleyball set for semifinal matchup in section playoffs

The Livingston High boys volleyball team is two wins away from a Sac-Joaquin Section championship.

The Wolves, the top-seeded team in the Division 4 tournament, have rolled to two straight-set victories in the first two rounds, cruising past 16th-seeded Weston Ranch and ninth-seeded El Camino to reach the semifinals.

Livingston will host fourth-seeded River Islands of Lathrop on Wednesday at 6 p.m. with a spot in the title match on the line.

The Wolves went 14-0 to win the Western Athletic Conference, including two wins over Beyer, the No. 1 seed in the Division 3 tournament. Livingston is 36-6 overall.

The Wolves are led by senior Gurvir Singh, who’s first in kills (501) and blocks (78). Singh has an impressive 0.522 hitting percentage.

Senior Udayveer Dhadda leads the team in digs (242), aces (70) and receptions (360). Senior Shabadjot Kaloya leads the team in assists with 668.

River Islands won the Central California Athletic Alliance League and is 20-5 overall.

The winner of Wednesday night’s semifinal will face the winner of the other semifinal between second-seeded Bear River and third-seeded El Dorado in the championship match.

The title match will be played at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento on Saturday at noon.
