Livingston boys volleyball reaches section title match with easy victory
The Livingston High boys volleyball team will play for a Sac-Joaquin Section banner on Saturday.
The top-seeded Wolves continued their tear through the Division 4 bracket Wednesday night, cruising past third-seeded River Islands in straight sets, 25-19, 25-20, 25-13.
Senior Gurvir Singh had a big night for Livingston, recording 21 kills. Seniors Bradley Kaji (nine kills) and Navjot Sekhon (eight kills) also contributed on offense.
Livingston, which went 14-0 to win the Western Athletic Conference and is now 37-6 overall, will face third-seeded El Dorado of Placerville in the championship match. El Dorado defeated second-seeded in five sets on Wednesday.
The title match will be played at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento on Saturday at noon.
Livingston lost in the section Division 4 championship match last year. The Wolves went on to win the NorCal title, but lost in the Division IV state championship match.
“A section title would mean redemption,” Livingston High senior Bradley Kaji told Shawn Jansen of the Merced Unified High School District. “We fell a little short last year and this year we’re coming back to finish it off and take it all the way to state.”
