Le Grand softball seeded 2nd in NorCal tournament; El Capitan baseball is 6th
Two Merced County high school teams who advanced to the CIF Northern California regionals now know their first-round opponents.
The Le Grand softball team, which won a Sac-Joaquin Section Division 7 championship, is seeded second in the NorCal Division V tournament and will host Justin-Siena of Napa in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
If the Bulldogs win, they’ll host a semifinal game on Thursday.
El Capitan’s baseball team, the runner-up in the section Division 3 tournament, is seeded sixth in the NorCal Division 3 tournament. The Gauchos (25-7) will play at Alameda in a quarterfinal on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Alameda was seeded 12th in the North Coast Section championships, but advanced the title game, which it lost 4-0 to Northgate.
The tournament semifinals will be played on Thursday and championship games will be played Saturday.
