Stone Ridge volleyball falls to top seed in NorCal D-VI semifinals

Stone Ridge Christian High School’s volleyball season ended with a 25-13, 25-19, 25-18 loss to top seed San Francisco Waldorf in the CIF NorCal Division VI semifinals Saturday night at Albany Middle School.

Rachel Kaler and Aubriana Vander Woude each recorded four kills for the Knights (26-11). Ellie Ann Vander Dussen had 15 digs.

State cross country championships

The Atwater boys cross country team finished in 22nd place in Division II at the CIF State Championships on Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno.

The Falcons were led by Alex Vargas, who crossed the finish line in 17 minutes, 10 seconds. Vargas’ time was good for 147th out of 194 runners.

Ozzy Nava finished 158th with a time of 17:18.

Merced’s Daniel Ambriz finished 175th in the Division I race with a time of 17:56, and Hilmar’s Kenzye Spears placed 101st in Division IV with a time of 17:10.

Atwater’s Jackie Magana finished 134th in the Division II girls race with a time of 20:15.

Sonora freshman Cassi Land posted the fastest time of any Stanislaus District runner Saturday, finishing ninth in the Division IV race in 18:39 to take home a medal. She was 1:04 behind winner Caroline Pietrzyk (17:35) of Malibu.
