Buhach Colony takes baseball series against Merced
Isaac Zambrano doubled, tripled and drove in two runs as the Buhach Colony baseball team defeated Merced 11-0 on Friday afternoon at Buhach Colony High.
With the win the Thunder (8-10, 5-1 Central California Conference) won the final two games of this week’s three-game series.
Buhach Colony jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning and led 11-0 after three innings.
Nick Singer led the Thunder’s 10-hit attack with three hits and scored three runs. Mike Casso and Logan Coe each had two hits, scored a run and had an RBI.
Alex Kendrick started and went three innings for the Thunder. Ubaldo Romo and Sergio Renteria each pitched an inning to combine on the three-hit shutout.
The game was stopped after five innings because of the mercy rule.
Pitman 14, Atwater 1 in Atwater – The Pride (12-6, 4-2 CCC) exploded for 14 runs in the third inning with the help of two grand slams as they routed the Falcons (3-15, 0-6).
Colton Evans and Matt Carrigg each hit grand slams for Pitman.
The Falcons struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning as Javier Cardenas drove in Cristian Curiel with a single.
Turlock 11, Golden Valley 1 in Turlock – The Bulldogs’ victory meant all three CCC games on Friday were stopped early because of the mercy rule.
Brady Mello gave the Cougars (0-6 CCC) a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI single, but it was all Bulldogs (10-8, 6-0) after that.
Jon Temple hit a two-run single as Turlock answered with three runs in the first. The Bulldogs added five runs in the third to extend the lead to 8-1.
