El Capitan’s Gasper tosses no-hitter in softball
Cassie Gasper continued her dominant pitching.
The El Capitan High School ace fired a no-hitter and struck out 12 as the Gauchos defeated Central Valley 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon at El Capitan.
In her last five starts, Gasper has 68 strikeouts and allowed only four earned runs and 17 hits in 36 innings. The Gauchos are 4-1 in those games.
El Capitan improved to 13-5-2 overall and 6-3 in the Western Athletic Conference, which is good for third place.
Toni Perez hit a two-run homer to spark the Gauchos against Central Valley (0-8 WAC).
McKenzie Schumacher, Jayden Guerrero and Gasper each had two hits with Gasper driving in two runs.
Le Grand 6, Denair 5 in Le Grand – Joanna Perez tripled in two runs as the Bulldogs knocked off the Coyotes to improve to 2-9 in the Southern League. Julia Lua went the distance to pick up the win.
