Buhach Colony, El Capitan baseball win
Eight different players knocked in runs as the Buhach Colony High baseball team finished off their three-game sweep of crosstown rival Atwater with a 10-0 win over Buhach Colony on Friday afternoon.
The Thunder (13-11, 10-2 Central California Conference) continued their first-inning assaults, scoring eight runs in the opening frame. Buhach Colony scored seven runs in the first inning in Thursday’s 12-2 win over Atwater and have scored 30 first-inning runs in the last seven games.
Kory Woods led the Thunder offense, going 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Nick Singer added two hits and Ruben Garcia drove in a pair of runs for Buhach Colony.
Mike Casso got the start and pitched four scoreless innings to pick up the win.
The victory sets up a showdown with Turlock (10-2 CCC) for the CCC championship in the final three games for Buhach Colony. The two teams are tied heading into their season-ending series that gets started on Tuesday at Buhach Colony at 4 p.m.
El Capitan 9, Pacheco 0 in Los Banos – The Gauchos moved one step close to securing their first Western Athletic Conference championship. Braiden Ward and Mark Sellers each had two hits as El Capitan improved to 16-6 overall and 9-1 in the WAC. Sai Davuluri pitched five shutout innings to pick up the win.
Firebaugh 6, Dos Palos 0 in Dos Palos – Jeshua Gutierrez hit a two-run homer as the Eagles plated five runs in the first inning to improve to 6-0 in the Western Sierra League. Dos Palos dropped to 6-2 despite a pair of hits from Gabriel Galindo.
