Roundup: Big second half propels Buhach Colony past Golden Valley for first win

The Buhach Colony High football team torched Golden Valley on some long runs en route to a 34-19 win on Friday night at Dave Honey Stadium.

The win was the first victory of the season for the Thunder (1-2 Central California Conference) and the first win for first-year coach Jerry Dietz.

Sophomore running back Jaxson Percoats had a big game for the second consecutive week, breaking free for touchdowns runs of 96 and 73 for the Thunder. Nate Ruiz added a 40-yard touchdown run for BC.

The game was tied at 13-13 at halftime after Golden Valley’s Blake Schlessinger scored on a 2-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter.

Buhach Colony outscored Golden Valley 21-6 in the second half. The Cougars dropped to 0-3 overall and in the CCC.

Buhach Colony will face Atwater in the Bloss Bowl next week. Golden Valley will play Merced in the battle for the Mayor’s Cup.

Hughson 27, Atwater 7 in Hughson: Huskies quarterback Aiden Meyer threw two touchdowns as Hughson improved to 3-0 on the season.

Atwater’s score came on a pass from Bo Valladao to Cameron Frazier. The Falcons lost starting quarterback Julius Peacock on their first offensive series to an injury and he didn’t return.

Atwater dropped to 1-2 this season.

Livingston 35, Delhi 0 in Livingston: The Wolves’ first touchdown came after the Delhi punter kicked the ball off of one of his blockers and Livingston recovered the ball in the end zone.

It was all Livingston after that as the Wolves improved to 2-1. Delhi dropped to 0-3.

Mariposa 30, Le Grand 6 in Mariposa: The Grizzlies took advantage of five turnovers by the Bulldogs. Mariposa quarterback Wyatt Green threw three touchdowns, including two to Tyler Richards.

Mariposa improved to 3-1 on the season. Le Grand dropped to 2-1.

Beyer 18, Los Banos 7 in Los Banos: Zack Carillo scored on a touchdown runs of 5 and 6 yards in the second half to help the Patriots defeat the Tigers at Loftin Stadium.

The Tigers (0-3) took a 7-6 lead into halftime after Gael Castillo connected with William Gilardi on a 7-yard touchdown pass late in the second quarter.

Julian Sanchez led the LB defense with 11 tackles, including one sack and a blocked punt. Joe Archutowski recorded 12 tackles with one sack.

Pacheco 42, Johansen 6 in Modesto: The Panthers (2-1) outscored the Vikings 28-0 in the second half to pull away. Pacheco’s Daniel Scott recorded two interceptions — including a pick six — and also recovered a fumble and an onside kick.
