Golden Valley can’t keep pace with Clovis East
The Golden Valley football team was on the wrong end of a shootout as the Cougars couldn’t keep up with Clovis East in a 56-30 loss on Friday night at Lamonica Stadium.
Timberwolves running back Marcus Washington had touchdown runs of 1, 50 and 3 yards as Clovis East pulled away in the second half.
Isaiah Montanez helped give the Cougars an early 17-14 lead with touchdown runs of 15 and 69 yards with 8:58 left in the first half.
After Clovis East jumped out to a 28-17 lead, Golden Valley quarterback Armando Muzquiz found Cadrian McDaniel for a 57-yard scoring strike that cut the deficit to 28-23.
Muzquiz added a 43-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Reyes in the third quarter for the Cougars’ final score.
Manteca 34, Buhach Colony 6 in Manteca, The Buffaloes opened up a 27-0 lead behind touchdown passes from Dakarai Charles and Gino Campiotti and a pair of touchdown runs from Darrion Kitson.
Brandon Muse got the Thunder on the board in the fourth quarter with a 3-yard touchdown run.
Madera 42, Los Banos 39 in Madera, Evan Rios kicked a 38-yard field goal at time expired after Los Banos fumbled the ball with one second on the clock.
It was Rios’ third field goal of the game.
Los Banos quarterback Adam Herrera threw three touchdown passes of 64, 57 and 4 yards and added touchdown runs of 20 and 73 yards.
Bear River 40, Pacheco 20 in Los Banos, the Panthers defense accounted for two touchdowns as Dontae Smith scooped up a fumble and ran 65 yards to the end zone and Martin Topete returned another fumble for 30 yards for a score.
Hilmar 38, Livingston 12 in Hilmar, Yellowjackets quarterback Daniel Texeira’s debut was a good one as he carried the ball 21 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns. He scored on runs of 31 and 13 yards as Hilmar outscored Livingston 26-6 in the second half.
Texeira also threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Alex Chavez.
Josh Jennings also went over the century mark on the ground for Hilmar with 112 yards on 11 carries.
Le Grand 54, Delta 22 in Le Grand, Carlos Iniguez opened the season with a monster night as he finished with 212 yards and three touchdowns for the Bulldogs.
Sophomore Beto Marquez also had a nice debut at quarterback with two touchdown passes.
Chowchilla 51, Madera South 28 in Chowchilla, Alex Gutierrez rushed for touchdown runs of 8, 3 and 37 yards and scored a pair of two-point conversions to help the Redskins roll past the Stallions.
Immanuel 31, Dos Palos 18 in Dos Palos, Kyle Dunigan scored three touchdowns as the Eagles spoiled the head coaching debut for the Broncos’ Rob Calvert.
Dos Palos’ Ozzie Suarez passed for 140 yards and ran for 152 yards on 17 carries.
