Other playoff games to watch tonight

Los Banos (7-4) at Liberty Ranch (7-4)

The eighth-seeded Tigers held on last week to defeat Lathrop, Division IV’s top seed, 30-29. Los Banos got a big game out of senior David Walker last week with two sacks and a interception returned for a touchdown. The Tigers’ offense also got back on track behind quarterback Adam Herrera and running back Daniel Fernandez.

The Hawks’ Wing-T offense features four players with over 600 yards rushing. They are led by Saul Lomeli (665 yards and eight touchdowns) and Gavin Westlund (720 yards and nine touchdowns).

Ripon Christian (9-2) at Hilmar (8-3)

Two balanced offenses square off in the Division VI semifinals as the Yellowjackets face their second Southern League opponent in the playoffs. The Yellowjackets come in heavy favorites after torching Mariposa 55-22. Hilmar quarterback Daniel Texeira has been efficient in the second half of the season and has thrown for 2,034 yards and 29 touchdowns.

Knights quarterback Travis Zuidervaart has also posted solid numbers this season with 1,802 yards and 25 touchdowns.

Gustine (10-1) at Bradshaw Christian (9-2)

The other Division VI semifinal game is a rematch of a first-round playoff game last year won by the Pride 47-6. The Redskins are a much better team, but their defense struggled in last week’s 70-54 win over Rio Vista. Gustine running back Brandon Labry rushed for 377 yards and four touchdowns in the win. Labry has 2,059 yards and 23 touchdowns this season.

Millennium (6-5) at Stone Ridge Christian (9-1)

With the release of the new “Star Wars” movie fast approaching it seems fitting Stone Ridge Christian will face the Millennium Falcons in the Division VII semifinals. Knights defensive end Mark Hooker has been a force, racking up 23 sacks in the regular season and is tied for the state lead.

The Knights double-wing offense has moved at light speed through opposing defenses behind the trio of running backs Shane Casillas, Jonathan Collazo and Austin Rees.

This is not the upset you’re looking for with Stone Ridge Christian defeating the Falcons 68-0 on Oct. 2, which was the fourth of eight consecutive shutouts to close the season for the Knights.

Madera South (5-5) at Chowchilla (8-2)

This is a rematch of the season opener for both teams, won by the Redskins 51-28. Both teams are coming off first-round byes. Chowchilla closed the season strong with three consecutive wins behind their power running back. Anthony Stewart finished the regular season with 1,162 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Madera South opens its playoff run after losing four of its last five games.

Firebaugh (5-5) at Dos Palos (6-4)

Another Central Section rematch against two teams coming off first-round byes. Dos Palos edged Firebaugh 16-13 on the way to a West Sierra League title. The Broncos caught fire in the second half of the season behind its running game, led by Andrew Walker, who rushed for 872 yards and 12 touchdowns.
