Golden Valley wrestling gets best of Los Banos
The Golden Valley High wrestling team rallied in the later matches to defeat Los Banos 47-12 on Wednesday night at Cougar Arena. The Cougars scored the final 26 points of the dual by winning the final five matchups.
Criselio Rivera (113 pounds), Tanner Browning (120) and Jacob Perry (138) all recorded pins during that run and Brady Mello (132) won by technical fall.
Two of the better matches kicked off the dual meet with Golden Valley’s Joey Terry pulling away late to defeat Los Banos’ Josh Bustamonte 15-9. In the next match, the Cougars’ Rene Renteria recorded a reversal and put Los Banos’ Ferb Mendoza on his back near the end of the match to win 8-7 to give Golden Valley an early 6-0 lead.
The Cougars improved to 8-0.
Both teams will compete in the Morning Star Tournament in Los Banos on Saturday.
