Other high school football playoff games to watch this week
Here are other games to watch this week:
Tonight
Central Section playoffs
Kerman (7-4) at Chowchilla (9-2), 7 p.m.
The North Sequoia League rivals will square off for a second time this season. Chowchilla defeated the Lions 46-21 on Oct. 9 in a game that was close until the Redskins pulled away late. The fourth-seeded Redskins earned the home game this week after No. 9 Kerman upset top seed Central Valley Christian 21-14 last Friday.
Chowchilla is averaging 268 rushing yards per game, led by Anthony Stewart, who has racked up 1,295 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Mendota (8-4) at Dos Palos (7-4), 7 p.m.
Another rematch between league opponents. The Broncos squeaked by the Aztecs 14-13 on Oct. 9 in a West Sierra League game. Mendota is led by quarterback Junior Cardenas, who has passed for 1,934 yards and 22 touchdowns. Mendota has three receivers with 23 catches or more in Luis Mojarro, Julian Cardenas and Fabian Jasso.
Dos Palos brings a six-game winning streak into the game. The Broncos’ defense is giving up just over 13 points per game during the streak.
Saturday
Sac-Joaquin Section
No. 1 Hilmar (9-3) vs. No. 2 Bradshaw Christian (10-2) at Lincoln High in Stockton, 6 p.m.
The Pride has won eight games in a row, including a 55-13 romp over Gustine in last week’s Division VI semifinals. Bradshaw Christian has outscored its opponents 397-74 during the streak. The Pride is averaging almost 363 rushing yards per game, led by 1,000-yard backs Jared Kanipe (1,031 yards and 22 touchdowns) and Mateo Bromstead (1,056 yards, 13 touchdowns).
The Yellowjackets also have peaked at the right time, winning six in a row. Hilmar has been led by quarterback Daniel Teixeira and receiver Alex Chavez. Teixeira has passed for 2,214 yards and 32 touchdowns and rushed for 707 yards and 11 touchdowns. Chavez has 63 receptions for 1,258 yards and 16 touchdowns.
