Wednesday was national signing day, which marks the first day high school football players can sign their national letters of intent to accept college scholarships. Buhach Colony High’s Aundre Sherman (above) and Merced’s Jabar Byrd both officially signed with Humboldt State during signing ceremonies at their respective high schools. Byrd was the Central California Conference MVP and Sun-Star Player of the Year after rushing for 1,340 yards and 18 touchdowns on 160 carries. Sherman plans to play safety after being an all-CCC first-team selection at defensive back.
