Hilmar uses big third quarter to pull away from Beyer

Chase Kindberg passed for 273 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for a touchdown to lead the Hilmar High football team to an impressive 42-22 victory over large-school Beyer on Friday night.

Beyer, which shared the Modesto Metro Conference title last season, trailed by just six points at halftime, but a big third-quarter performance by small-school Hilmar put the game away.

Cody Rentfro scored on a seven-yard run and Kindberg connected with Xavier Burke for a 15-yard TD pass in the critical third period for the Yellowjackets (1-0).

Brandon Grey’s 85-yard kickoff return in the second quarter was the highlight of the night for the Patriots (0-1).
