Imagine being 18 years old with a 900 series -- three consecutive perfect games -- already under your belt. Meet Jimmy Schmitzer, of Riverside.

Schmitzer should roll great -- he rolls in seven leagues, with 100 practice games each week. If approved by the United State Bowling Congress, he would become the 20th bowler with a 900 series.

The kid is naturally left-handed, but uses the two-handed delivery and rolls from the right side. "Two-handed bowlers have an advantage for the speed and revs the ball generates on the lanes than the traditional release," PBA pro Pete Weber once said. Schmitzer started using the unique style when he was 8. He will bowl for the University of Nevada-Las Vegas next.

Two Atwater bowlers placed in the San Joaquin Bowling Club's season-ending Bowlers of the Year tournament held Sunday at K.C. Bowl in Hanford. Coming in second was Ronnie Gonzales ($350), and in sixth place was Jesse Ramirez ($140). The top 23 bowlers rolled for the championship, was won by Robert Nelson ($600).
