Here’s why a driver barreled into a mechanics’s garage in Atwater, police say
Several adults were treated by emergency personnel on Monday after a driver suffering from a ‘medical condition’ in Atwater ended up crashing into a mechanic’s garage, according to police.
Joshua Coronado, 25, of Delhi was driving a 1997 Ford Taurus with 26-year-old Jessica Coronado in the passenger’s seat and three children in the back around 5 p.m., police said.
Coronado began to have a seizure, according to police, on First Street while headed south in the area of Cedar Avenue. The woman in the passenger seat began to steer the car and blared the horn to warn other drivers, according to police.
The Taurus collided with a 2016 Hyundai Elantra eastbound on Atwater Boulevard driven by Kayla Wilson-Adams, 22, of Atwater and then the Taurus careened into Moores Automotive on that street, police said.
The children between the ages of 2 and 6 did not appear to have injuries, police said. Wilson-Adams and her passenger, 24-year-old Stormi Jones, were taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with complaints of pain.
The Coronados and the children were taken to Mercy Medical Center in Merced, police said.
None of the injuries were considered ‘serious,’ according to police.
