This Dog Parent Styled Their Pup's Ears With a Dyson Airwrap-and the Internet Voiced Their Concerns

In a viral video posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), user @willow_wwhimsy appears to be styling their puppy's ears with a Dyson Airwrap, a multi-styler, dryer, and curler. The dog's floppy ears are wrapped around one of the tools' attachments, which is meant to create a blowout hairstyle-on human hair, of course.

The video ends with the dog's ears appearing to be curled inwards, reminiscent of a 1950s hairstyle. How cute! During the video, the pup sits patiently waiting for the result of her "puppy blowout." She doesn't appear to be uncomfortable, afraid, or under any kind of duress. At the end of the video, the dog is wagging her tail enthusiastically and happily as her parent/hairstyler pets her.

And if you're wondering why the dog wasn't uncomfortable, or why anyone would want to curl their puppy's floppy ears, don't worry, it's just a joke. The creator of the video wrote: "I did NOT curl her ears with anything. Her ears are super long and soft, so when she jumps on the couch, they naturally flip like this. Please don't try to style or 'fix' your dog's ears."

The final result of the video, as stated above, was just the puppy's floppy ears naturally curling inwards as she jumped around and played with her parent. No Dyson Airwrap needed.

The Internet's Response

Believe me, the internet had thoughts, and users shared their opinions.

One user wrote, "Sorry, it's not funny, you know some people are not smart, they may see this and think they can try on their own dog. Not funny." Another user agreed, "But people are stupid and cruel, and you just gave a great example for them to reproduce. Congratulations, you've just hurt a lot of innocent souls." Someone else wrote, "It's not funny at all. It's simply stupid. People will want to do the same thing and burn dogs' ears with a hot iron."

On a more positive note, other users appreciated the joke. "She wants to feel the glamour, too," someone commented. Followed by, "Very beautiful doggo. The curls look beautiful, compliments to her stylist."

"I woke up like this. Those ears are serving natural fluff and a perfect flip! No curling iron needed," someone else added. And finally, "People thought it was serious? OMG!"

Obviously, using a Dyson Airwrap or any styling wand on your dog's ears and body isn't appropriate and can severely harm them. However, pretending to do so, even if just for a joke, can actually be beneficial.

Have you ever been mid-skincare routine when your puppy barks at you, wanting to join in, too? And then you pretend to wash their face and apply eye cream on their undereyes? Well, they just want to be included. They want to be part of your skincare and makeup routines, and even included when you use your Dyson Airwrap. It's OK to pretend to include them in the activity, as long as they're safe. They'll feel very happy and connected to you!
