Zoo Boo in Merced
The Applegate Park Zoo plans its annual Zoo Boo from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the zoo, 1045 W. 25th St. The event offers trick-or-treating and carnival games for all ages, and organizers recommend bringing a bag to collect the treats. Pumpkin party for kids
Merced’s annual Tiny Tots Pumpkin Party is a time for children ages 3 to 6 to decorate a pumpkin and partake in other Halloween fun at 5:15 p.m. Oct. 29 in the Sam Pipes Room of City Hall, 678 W. 18th St. The cost is $5 a child.. Story time in Merced, Livingston
Come join the fun at 10 a.m. Wednesdays for Baby Story Time and at 10:30 and 11:15 a.m. Fridays for Preschool Story Times at the Merced Library, 2100 O Street. Preschool Story Time is 10:30 a.m. Thursdays at the Livingston Library, 1212 Main St. Story time helps increase children’s print awareness and vocabulary and instills a love of books. The Pacheco Village and Pacheco Court Apartments offers free venue rentals. The rental includes a meeting space with a capacity of up to 60 and well-equipped club rooms with kitchens. Fall Fun Run
The Merced Running Club’s Fall Fun Run happens Thursday nights during October in Rahilly Park, 3400 Parsons Ave. in Merced. All races start together. Pick your distance (one mile, two miles or three miles), predict your time and take off your wristwatch. Those closest to their predicted times win. Runners all ages are welcome. Livingston Lions Club
Livingston Lions Club has five new collection points for used eyeglasses in Livingston. Eyeglasses are being collected at the Livingston Rite Aid, Livingston Medical Center, True Value, Livingston Fittness and Liberty Market. Drivers sought to aid vets
The DAV is looking for a men and women to be volunteer drivers for veterans. Volunteering to drive a veteran ensures that even those living remotely from VA hospitals can make their appointments and not go without the treatment they need. DAV provides van and fuel. Call (559) 25-6100 ext. 6907.
Grief share group

Christmas tree orders
The city of Livingston will host its first Court of Trees, “A Lighted Christmas Tree Forest” on the Old Court Theater property downtown. The public is invited to get a tree and decorate it. Trees are $27 and the city provides a 6- to 7-foot-tall Douglas fir. Buyers provide lights and decorations, and 5 p.m. Friday is the deadline to order your tree. The lighted Christmas Tree Forest will be open from 6 p.m. Dec. 5 until Christmas. Entry forms are available at City Hall, 1416 C Street or online at www.livingstoncity.com.
