Coronavirus Week Five: Merced County cases rise to 108 total infections, 64 recoveries
Coronavirus cases in Merced County stand at 108 total confirmed infections, an increase of three from the previous day, the Merced County Department of Public Health reported Monday morning.
The county reports 64 people have recovered from the virus, while 41 people remain with active cases. Three Merced County residents have died. The first case of coronavirus in Merced County was reported on March 22.
The three new cases are all individuals age 65 or older. The transmission source of each are listed as under investigation.
Among cities and towns, the latest data shows 36 total infections in Los Banos and 21 total infections in Merced. Delhi has 11 infections while both Gustine and Atwater show seven infections.
The City of Livingston is shown to have the least number of infections of the listed communities with six, according to Merced County data.
County Public Health only discloses numbers for communities with five or more infected residents.
Elsewhere in the region
Stanislaus County as of Sunday had five deaths among the 286 people who have tested positive for the virus. Sixty-nine people have been hospitalized, and 202 have recovered.
Madera County reported one additional case for a total of 41, still with 27 having recovered and two having died.
Fresno (458 cases, seven deaths) and Mariposa (zero cases among 104 tests) counties had yet to update their numbers.
Tulare County on Sunday reported the total number of cases rose to 504, an increase of 13 from the previous day. The county saw four additional people die from the coronavirus in its Saturday update, when 19 new cases were added. The number of COVID-19 deaths in the county stands at 32, highest in the six-county central San Joaquin Valley region. There are 94 people who have recovered from COVID-19 in the county.
Kings County remained at 52 cases, with nine people having recovered and one death. The total tests conducted and reported rose from 993 on Saturday to 1,109.
Statewide, as of Sunday there were 42,932 confirmed cases with 1,696 deaths.
