Merced County reports 94 new coronavirus cases, no new deaths
There were 94 new coronavirus cases reported in Merced County on Friday, according to the Merced County Public Health Department.
That brings the total of residents who have contracted the virus to 7,428 since the first case was reported in the county on March 22.
There were no new deaths due to the virus in Merced County on Friday, which keeps the total number of deaths at 99 since the start of the pandemic.
There are 77 hospitalized residents — an increase of one person since Thursday. Of those residents, 33 are being hospitalized in Merced County.
The total number of Merced County residents who have been hospitalized since the beginning of the pandemic is 494.
The are 2,419 county residents who are considered active with the virus.
Around the Valley
Stanislaus County as of Friday reported 226 deaths — an increase of three compared to the prior day. The county has reported 13,120 positive cases since the pandemic and there have been 11,958 recoveries.
Fresno County reported the second child death in the county due to COVID-19 on Friday and 21 new deaths due to the virus. Fresno County has reported 226 total COVID-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic. Health officials, also reported 368 new cases to bring the dismal number up to 22,535.
Tulare County reported two more deaths in the afternoon update, bringing the tally to 210. Positive cases also rose by 95 as the total increased to 13,117. At least 225 patients have recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total in the region to 12,007.
Madera County reported 62 new cases, bringing the total to 3,339. Sixty more patients have recovered to bring up the tally to 2,538. No deaths were reported, keeping the number at 49.
Mariposa County reported no new cases or deaths early Friday, keeping the total at 69 and two deaths since the pandemic began. Sixty-four patients have recovered.
Kings County reported late Thursday 28 new cases to reach to 5,659. No new deaths were reported. Total numbers include people in nursing homes and inmates in Kings County facilities.
