When it comes to tacos, Merced doesn’t play around.
Whether it’s tender carne asada, crispy carnitas or cheesy birria that drips with flavor, locals know exactly where to go.
The Merced Sun-Star asked readers to nominate their favorite taco trucks in town — and you delivered. Here are the top picks:
What are the best taco trucks in Merced?
Seven Merced taco trucks earned nominations from Sun-Star readers, with Hidalgos Tacos at 550 East Main St. leading the pack by 14 nominations.
Readers praised the truck’s bold flavors, generous portions and budget-friendly prices.
“The carne asada is amazing and the quesadillas are superior to any other taco truck!” reader Izaak Rios wrote.
Another reader said the food is “bomb, servings are generous and the staff is awesome.”
Cortes Tacos #2 at 15th West St. recieved the second-most nominations, with six readers calling it the best.
Reader Gurshaan Nagra said the tacos “taste wonderful” and the truck has “very friendly service.”
“They have the best burritos in all of Merced, and they’re always so nice when I go,” reader Carlos Ruiz wrote. “I can’t go to any other place for a burrito after trying theirs.”
Marco’s Tacos at 99 East Donna Drive received three nominations, with readers calling it an affordable “go-to spot” with consistently delicious Mexican food.
