Merced Irrigation District takes over Yosemite Lake. Who’s managing it?
A search is under for a new organization to manage the recreation facilities at Lake Yosemite, according to a news release from Merced Irrigation District.
In the meantime, MID employees are managing the lake.
MID assumed recreation management of Lake Yosemite on Sunday when a long-term agreement expired between MID and Merced County.
Merced County had managed Lake Yosemite, located just north of UC Merced, since 1976.
“There is simply no question about the importance of this resource to our local community,” MID General Manager John Sweigard said in the news release published Monday on its website. “Lake Yosemite has a long and important history in Merced, and we are excited to continue a refocused commitment on its future recreation and concessions opportunities.”
MID parks staff have integrated Lake Yosemite facility rentals, as well as day-use and annual permits into the department’s website, LakeMcClure.com.
MID manages both Lakes McClure and McSwain.
Anyone seeking a facility rental at Lake Yosemite can email info@LakeMcClure.com or call 855-800-2267.
Day use passes and annual passes for MID Parks provide access to Lake Yosemite, as well as Lakes McClure and McSwain, the news release said.
