Merced County man tried to run from police. He was arrested for DUI, police say
A man suspected of drunken driving was recently arrested after a low-speed chase in Los Banos, police said on Monday.
An officer saw a black Chevrolet truck fail to stop at a stop sign at 10:51 p.m. Friday at Fourth and H Streets, according to police. So the officer turned on his flashing lights.
The driver, later identified as 34-year-old Alejandro Guerrero of Los Banos, led the officer on a low-speed pursuit, which ended at the intersection of Linda Vista and West J streets, police said.
Guerrero stopped the truck and tried to run into a back yard, but was stopped by the officer and placed under arrest, police said.
Guerrero was booked into the Los Banos Police Department Jail on suspicion of failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, DUI and resisting arrest, police said.
No injuries were reported during this incident, police said. Guerrero is no longer in custody, according to jail records.
