He was tagging a Los Banos wall. Now he's charged with a felony
A 20-year-old Los Banos man has been accused of felony vandalism in relation to multiple incidents of graffiti or other damage, according to the Merced County District Attorney’s Office.
Sebastian Sanchez is also charged with committing a felonious act for the benefit of a criminal street gang, the office said on Wednesday.
A 911 caller, a route driver for Republic Services, told dispatchers a tagger was spray painting graffiti at Meadowland Park II at 10:17 a.m. Jan. 17, according to Los Banos police.
A Los Banos officer responded and detained Sanchez, police said. A search warrant served at Sanchez's home in the 800 block of La Mesa Lane uncovered evidence linking him to several other vandalism incidents, according to the release.
Sanchez's public defender could not be immediately reached for content.
Sanchez remains in custody at the Merced County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail, according to jail records.
