Los Banos men – called El Dorado County’s ‘main source’ of meth, other drugs – arrested
Sheriff’s deputies seized nearly a quarter-million dollars’ worth of narcotics and arrested three suspects this week, with investigators saying two of them were believed to be the main suppliers of meth, cocaine and heroin to El Dorado County.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office in a Facebook post said narcotics detectives served a search warrant Tuesday at a Los Banos residence following a two-month investigation. Detectives seized large quantities of drugs and determined the home, in which a 12-year-old was living, was being operated as a meth lab.
A search of the residence turned up 10 pounds of heroin, 8½ pounds of methamphetamine, five pounds of cocaine, $15,000 in cash and a loaded handgun, authorities said.
“In total, the estimated street value of the seized narcotics was $225,000,” the social media post concluded, including a photo of the evidence that showed some of the drugs packaged in “bricks” and others in black garbage-type bags, as well as six cellphones that had been seized.
Julio Chavez, 28, and Dennis Castro, 29, both of Los Banos, “were the main source of supply of methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin to El Dorado County,” the Facebook post said. They were arrested in connection with Tuesday’s bust, along with 22-year-old Destaney Walker, whom sheriff’s officials accused of “transporting large quantities of narcotics.”
