Merced County Spring Fair 2020 queen and court to be honored during 2022 May Day
Making up for lost time, the Merced County Spring Fair May Day Queen from 2020, Emma Menefee, is being recognized at this year’s fair, along with the three runners-up from 2020’s canceled fair.
The fair board directors met earlier this month and decided to honor the 2020 May Day Queen and runners-up as the royalty for the 2022 fair, according to a news release from the Merced County Spring Fair Board.
The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the cancellation of the 2020 Spring Fair, as well as the 2021 fair. However, because a May Day Queen and court had already been chosen by the time the 2020 fair was canceled, fair board members decided to give the girls their day in the spotlight.
“We want to welcome the Miss May Day Queen and her court to this year’s fair and look forward to honoring them,” said LeAne Santos-Sousa in the press release.
The May Day court is made up of Emma Menefee, the 2020 May Day Queen, and the May Day court – first runner-up Aubrie Hazan from Gustine, second runner-up Gloria Leonard from Los Banos and third runner-up Madison Moore from Los Banos.
The Merced County Spring Fair runs April 27-May 1 at the Merced County Fairgrounds, located at 403 F St. in Los Banos. For more information, go to co.merced.ca.us/88/Spring-Fair.
