The annual Spring Street Faire will feature new food vendors, a petting zoo and pony rides Saturday in addition to the usual foods, crafts and entertainment.

“Besides getting into the downtown area, this is one of the bigger fundraisers for the Chamber,” executive director Bertha Faria said.

The Spring Street Faire, one of two held by the Los Banos Chamber of Commerce each year, promotes local businesses by attracting thousands of visitors.

The event has been running for about 25 years, Faria said.

This year, the fair is being held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9. Faria said about 100 booths will serve an expected 3,500 to 5,000 people this year.

“Some businesses start out as booths in the fair, then later they get a storefront,” said Kathy Ballard, a Chamber director.

JC’s Starstruck DJ Services will provide music and performances from local programs. Visitors can also enjoy exploring the arts, crafts, jewelry and clothing booths, as well as food vendors.

Delta Blood Bank Mobile will offer services, and a pancake breakfast with the Los Banos Rotary Club will start off the morning.

“We just want everybody to have fun and have a sense of community, sense of place,” Faria said.
