Hunters Fire near Mariposa 90% contained; evacuation orders lifted

An evacuation order on Monday afternoon was lifted for the area north of Mariposa where the Hunters Fire had burned 85 acres.

Containment was at 90 percent contained Tuesday morning.

CalFire spokesperson Jamie Williams said the evacuation order was for residents living near Hunters Valley Road And Bear Valley Road.

According to Williams, the evacuation order was lifted around 2 p.m.

Cal Fire on Monday morning originally reported the fire burned 180 acres, but due to more accurate mapping the number was reduced to 85 acres.

The fire started about 7 p..m. Sunday, and the cause remains under investigation.
