Arrest made in shooting of man outside Los Banos apartment complex, police say
A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting outside of a Los Banos apartment complex, according to authorities.
Police arrested Cruz Vasquez Jr. of Los Banos on Friday in connection with the shooting of a 45-year-old man outside an apartment complex, according to a Los Banos Police Department Facebook post.
Officers were dispatched to the scene in the 1900 block of San Luis Street at about 11:53 p.m. on June 2, for a report of a man who had been shot, police said.
Officers located the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken by helicopter to an area trauma center for treatment.
Police said the victim was sitting outside his apartment when he was approached by two men on foot. At least one of the men opened fire several times before fleeing through the apartment complex on foot, authorities said.
According to police, Vasquez was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, inflicting great bodily injury, conspiracy to commit a crime, personal use of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, possession of burglary tools and revocation of post release community supervision.
Vasquez remains in custody at the Los Banos Police Department jail and is being held without bond, according to jail records.
