A hit-and-run collision in Merced sent one person to the hospital early Sunday night, according to authorities.
The crash involving a Ford Ranger and Toyota Camry near Martin Luther King Jr. Way and West 16th Street was discovered by an officer about 5:17 p.m., according to Merced Police Sgt. Mark Jenkins.

Police believe one of the vehicles may have been traveling east on West 16th and the other north on Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Details remain under investigation but one of the vehicles may have ran a red light, according to Jenkins.
The driver of the Camry left before police arrived, Jenkins said. Police are attempting to speak with witnesses.
