Fourth suspect arrested in connection with Los Banos stabbing, police say
A 23-year old Los Banos man is the latest person to be arrested in connection with an Oct. 22 stabbing at the Circle K in Los Banos, according to police.
Officers arrested Michael Jordon Perez on Friday at Merced Superior Court, where he was appearing on an unrelated gun possession case, according to a social media post by the Los Banos Police Department.
Perez was charged with suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit a crime and participation in a criminal street gang. Perez is in custody on $1 million bail.
Perez is the fourth and final suspect to be arrested in connection with the stabbing that took place at the Circle K store at 1704 East Pacheco Blvd.
The person stabbed suffered life-threatening injuries. Police believe the incident was gang-motivated.
The Gang Unit developed information about the possible suspect vehicle and attempted to stop a blue Honda Accord. A high-speed pursuit ensued throughout the city.
The pursuit came to an end on State Route 152 just east of Billy Wright Road.
The driver, 26-year-old Jose Espino of Los Banos, was arrested for felony evading. A juvenile occupant was also detained pending further investigation. Investigators determined Espino and the juvenile were involved in the stabbing.
Investigators identified a third suspect in the stabbing and arrested 20-year-old Edgar Medina of Los Banos a day after the incident.
All of the subjects were arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy, and participation in a criminal street gang. All suspects remain in custody pending arraignment.
Anyone with any information regarding the investigation is encouraged to call Sgt. Parras at 209-827-2510 or Det. Neal at 209-827-2537.
