Teen struck by gunfire in neighborhood in Merced County, police say. Suspect fled scene

A teen was struck by gunfire late Friday afternoon in Merced County.

The call came in at 5:50 p.m. where officers responded to the area of Determine Drive and Nashua Street in Atwater for shots being fired.

Officers arrived and found a teen that was struck by gunfire. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive, police said.

The suspect fled the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
