Man killed in shooting identified by Merced County coroner. Teen and a man arrested

The Merced County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim in the March 22 shooting as 24-year-old Angel Ramirez of Winton.

Deputies responded to the shooting in the 7100 block of Bobbi Avenue at 7:30 p.m. after reports of a man bleeding in front of a home.

Ramirez had a gunshot wound to the head and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Deputies said the incident happened during a gathering at the home, where the suspect and victim were at.

A 17-year-old was booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of murder and 20-year-old Jerardo Ochoa-Aguilar of Winton was arrested suspicion of accessory to murder.

The motive for the shooting is still being investigated.
