Merced police have made an arrest in the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Davarion Granados.

Eric Devon Beavers, a documented gang member from Merced, was arrested on Monday for the teenager’s murder, according to Merced Police Department Lt. Jose Barajas.

Merced detectives and members of the Merced Area Gang and Narcotic Enforcement Team served a search warrant at 4000 Cinnabar Court in Merced at around 8 a.m.

Beavers was taken into custody without incident and is the only suspect at this time, Barajas said.

Beavers, 40, was booked into Merced County Jail at around 12:50 p.m.

The shooting is believed to be gang-related, Barajas said.

Besides a murder charge, Beavers also faces drug and gun charges, Barajas said.

According to past Merced Sun-Star coverage, Beavers was a past documented member of the Merced Gangster Crips, a notorious local street gang.

The shooting that killed Granados occurred outside an apartment complex on the 400 block of Lesher Street on Nov. 19 at around 9:45 p.m..

Police did not release the name of the shooting victim at the time, but his mother, Maria Granados, revealed his identity to media and in a GoFundMe fundraiser online.
