CHP identifies man whose body was found in Tesla trunk in Merced County
The California Highway Patrol has identified the man whose body was found in the trunk of a vehicle parked on the side of a highway in Merced County last week.
The victim was identified as Javier Becerril, a 42-year-old from Hollister, according to a CHP Central Division Facebook post.
The CHP Central Division Major Crimes Unit is leading the homicide investigation, the post said.
At about 12:20 p.m. Thursday, the CHP Merced Communications Center received a report of a missing person believed to be on Highway 152 east of Lower Cottonwood Road.
Officers from the CHP Los Banos area and deputies from the Merced County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. When they opened the trunk of a white Tesla sedan, they discovered the body of an unidentified Hispanic male.
