A school bus driver and 14-year-old student were killed Tuesday in a collision with a flat-bed trailer, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. Nov. 2 on Interstate 79 in Butler County, state police said in a news release. Video footage from WPXI shows the bus hit the back of the tractor-trailer as both vehicles were driving northbound on the interstate.

The bus was hauling students from Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in Midland, the Beaver County Times reported. The 14-year-old female student and 31-year-old bus driver were “killed on impact and pronounced dead at 4:55 p.m.,” according to the publication. Their identities have not been publicly released.

Other passengers on the bus suffered “severe to moderate injuries” and were taken to hospitals by helicopter and ambulance, state police said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured, according to state police. It’s unclear what caused the crash.

We are deeply saddened to learn the events that took place this afternoon,” Lincoln Park’s school board president Richard Grimes said in a statement to KDKA.
