More than three years after a mother went missing, Texas officials say her remains have been found.

Kimberly Flint was last seen at her Texas home in September 2018, according to her missing person flier. Her green Jeep was later found crashed on the side of a highway in Reklaw.

“(Two years) today I received the worst news of my life,” a 2020 Facebook post regarding her disappearance says. “My sweet Momma was missing, it hurts me deeply knowing shes out there somewhere and I couldn’t find her. Lord please give us a break in her case with some new information.”

About 16 months after that post, a Texas sheriff’s office says it has found the remains of Kim Flint.

The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office, alongside Texas Rangers and a forensic anthropologist, were called to a property in a wooded area in Reklaw on Jan. 20, according to a post from the department.

With a search warrant, authorities say they found human remains in the area. The location was about a mile from where her crashed car was found, according to KETK.

The remains were taken to the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification, where DNA testing and dental recognition were completed.

A week later, on Jan. 27, preliminary reports confirmed the remains were of the missing mom, according to the post.

Officials say her family has been notified and additional forensic testing is planned.
