ATV riders find upside-down pickup truck with body inside after flood, Arizona cops say

A pickup truck found upside-down in a Mohave County desert wash by ATV riders contained the body of a man following monsoon rains and floods a night earlier, Arizona officials said.

Sheriff’s officials believe the white Chevrolet pickup truck, discovered just after 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, washed away in the storm Sunday, July 31, a news release said.

“The swift waters created by the monsoon rains are very dangerous, and oftentimes recede quickly,” the release said.

The body was taken to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office, the release said. The man’s identity has not been released pending notification of his family.

The sheriff’s office received multiple reports of vehicles washed away in floodwaters during the storm but none at the location where the truck was found, the release said.

“Search and Rescue wants to remind everyone when encountering flooded roadways, please ‘Turn Around – Don’t Drown’!” the release said.

Mohave County is on the Arizona-Nevada border east of Las Vegas.
